When you have two hens sitting on the same nest, all kind of bad things can happen to the poults. That is just one of the reasons that i take the poults as I find them and put them in a brooder. The only way I let a hen keep and raise her poults is if I can separate her and the poults away from the general population. I did this with one hen last year and she did a fine job of raising 12 poults. I let her and the poults back into the general population when they were 3 weeks old.I came home today and unfortunately found a dead poult...not sure if it was stepped on or what happened, but also found a poult with a bald spot on it's head and one leg completely turned almost backwards. It's not walking easily but peeps and seems normal otherwise...I think I may know what needs to be done unfortunately, but any input would be appreciated.
