Hello I have a question that I am hoping someone can answer for me.
I have two Heritage turkeys which I have hand raised since they were poults, I have had no idea whether or not they were male or female until recently, one of them disappeared I went searching and found, she has laid an impressive clutch of 15 eggs, so I now know she is female.

my question is would she still go broody and lay on her eggs if they were unfertilized, I still cannot tell if my other one is male, just wondering if I am going to have 15 little turkey's running around soon. My other turkey is one week older then the one who had laid and is showing no signs of doing so, also has become a bit aggressive he/she is chasing the dogs around and having a go at them, so I am starting to think that he might be a male. This is my first go at having turkeys so I am a little bit out of my depth, chickens and ducks I can do, turkeys are a mystery love them but a little confused.

any help would be appreciated

Welcome to BYC. A hen will lay eggs and go broody even if they are unfertilized. Does she set tight enough on the nest that you can candle some of the eggs to see if they are developing ?
