Turkey fungus on the head

Our turkeys have that also right now. One had her eye completely shut. The tom could barely breathe. Our vet told us to give them .5 ccs of Sulmet a day and start them back on the medicated game starter for about 2 weeks until it passed. It did the job - everyone looks better now. I was worried about the tom that we would lose him (he couldnt breathe) but he pulled through. For the sealed eye, we used hot water/paper towel a couple of times a day to moisten the "crust" and reopen the eye. The one with the sealed eye is much better now and her eye is fine. We also used the VET RX drops on the Tom's nose and chest and under the wings to help him breathe. I also put some in a spray bottle mixed with hot water and would spray the air around him to help open his passages. (its like a poultry version of Vicks vapor). Also - a friend told us to put a crushed lysine tablet in with some yogurt and vitamin mix and feed them that. The L-Lysine is supposed to make the pox not last as long or be as severe.

Definitely sounds like fowl pox, It's horrible. There are 2 types dry pox, external, and wet pox, internal (throat , sinus)
Both can be fatal, but the wet pot are the worst as they can suffocate them.
Good vitamin supplements to help keep their weakened immune system up it a plus right now. There is absolutely nothing that will cure it, but to just let it run it's course. The main thing is to give them all the supplements you can right now to help keep any other disease from attaching them in their weakened state. There is a wing stab vaccine for pox (it is a virus) If you have any other birds, I would highly recommend treating them now! They can get it as well, from either picking the scabs off infected birds, or being bitten by mosquitoes that have bitten an infected bird. A friend of mine had it a few years back, the pox didn't kill any directly, but subsequent infections killed about half his birds before it was over. Ever since that, I vaccinate all out stuff.
Good luck
Aubrey

Thanks for the help but I just checked on him and he died. I appreciate all the help I tried everything I guess it wasn't enough. I raised him from a poult he was more like a pet he followed me everywhere, It makes me sick; I'm treating the rest of my flock its just heartbreaking.
