I checked to see if there was a beard i couldn't find one. Husband was holding it. But it was hissing at me LOL. didnt know they did that!

It's a female
snood is short, looks like it would not extend. The shape is not like a cone, at that age males snoop are cone shaped when retracted.
Very little or no carnuckle on the neck
Feather grow up the neck to far.
Looks like it has small feather on the back of the neck and top of the head
Face is generally pink to red, males are more bluish

I take it has not gobbled, Males gobble at that age, mostly when there is an unusual sound. If you have a cell phone start playing sample of your ring tones. generally one will make it gobble if it can.

Once in a great while a female can have a beard.

definately a hen.. hens do that hissing sound when nesting.. with their long necks I think predators think it is a snake..

I went and got me a tom turkey and u can tell a big difference in them im pretty sure i got 1 hen and 1 tom now
