Hello. Looking for someone familiar with Bourbon Red turkeys that may be able to tell me if my 2 month old is a make or female? First time turkey owner so I’m clueless.

I would say hen, however I would need to watch her for a while to be 100% sure. It depends on if they fan out their tail and strut around.

Hens can and will strut as well

At 8 weeks it is hard to tell some times. From the pics I would almost guess tom based on the caruncle growth in the 3rd pic.

Thanks for the reply. Actually this morning turkey kept walking up to me and fanning out it’s feathers. Also has been walking up to hens and dancing sideways like my rooster does.

While I can usually sex my poults by 2 months old, sexing someone else's from photos is not the same. It normally requires the poults to be 3 months old before they can begin to be sexed from photos. Even then a late developing tom can take 6 months or longer before clearly showing what sex he is.

Don't try to equate your chicken's behavior to what a turkey will do.

As it continues to molt and replace poult feathers with adult feathers you'll notice the hens will have feathers on the breast that are edged in white, while the toms will have feathers edged in black.
