Hello I am new to turkeys I have one male and two female royal palms they are almost seven months old and last night my male turkey was gobbling over and over non stop. I went to check on them and they were all perched together like normal trying to sleep. He was pretty loud I just want to know if this is what to expect it was after midnight so I was concerned that he could be waking my neighbors.

Any possibility that a predator was in the area ? Something as simple as the hoot of a GHO can trigger gobbling.

I had a boy turkey, he would gobble at night, and also very early in the morning. Eventually I made a straw bale night time hut for him so it was very dark, and very sound proof.

Maybe ? I did hear dogs barking too. It is the first time he’s done this I guess I’ll see if it continues tonight.

Toms will gobble in response to sounds they hear. It is very possible that he was responding to the dogs barking.

We also had wild turkeys living in our trees at night. And sometimes they would gooble up a storm all at once, like watch dogs, but hearing just one was more annoying.
