We have become the home for our neighbors female Turkey for almost a year now. She chose to live here instead of with them. She has always been quite voicetress until last night. This morning she is still not speaking. She has always talked to us. In the morning's she will be outside doing her chirp by the chicken coop telling me to let the chickens out. This morning, nothing. She ran to me as usual and ran to the coop, but she actually chased a couple of our hens. She has been wanting to mate, but we have no male Turkey. Is this normal behavior?

My female turkeys are always loud, but I have a bunch so I'm unfamiliar if they become more quiet when they are going broody.

@memphis May know as she keeps only females. Hopefully she will chime in.

My bourbon red never shuts up! Always has something to say. My blue slate only trills when I'm talking to her. So they can be different. How old is she? Is this her first season laying? She's probably hormonal. Tis the time of year.

I am not sure of her age as she adopted us. The real owners live behind our creek. She seemed full grown when they got her though. We don't have a tkm for her either, but she has just recently started to lay.
