I have a royal Palm/ bourbon red mix hen who has made a nest in my flower bed. She's sitting on at least 4 eggs. She is decently hidden, but its the end of January and we've had unusually warm weather the last couple days (mid 70s) and I'm worried that raccoons will start coming out. I'm not sure if I should leave her there or try to move her to the coop where the other turkeys perch. Any suggestions?

Move her into a back corner of coop where you'll have made a "nest" out of some straw and place eggs in that (and don't let her out of run). Block off/cover (a bucket will do) the flower bed location. Keep a close eye on her if you don't have fenced run. Even our "best behaved" hens have tried laying in the most predator prone areas of woods nearby. We pretty much just collect up the early eggs and cover unauthorized nest with pile of dead branches. Once they get serious, in late Spring, all eggs are returned to shed and the hens get the idea and use the nests in shed.
