My momma Turkey hen who just hatched out poults has been acting normal, but just today I noticed her snood is all swollen and shiny. I couldn’t get a good side profile picture, but it’s definitely swollen and abnormally shiny. It doesn’t seem to bother her at all, she acts normal. Is it something to worry about?

Update: looks a bit worse today

Turkey hens can enlarge their snood somewhat. I've seen it more when they were displaying dominance, usually to other hens. Do you have other turkeys? Perhaps she's just being protective of her new poults.

I only have a Tom, and a few chickens.
That would be very likely if she’d only just hatched the poults, but it’s a week she’s had them now. It doesn’t seem to shrink at night, and I am 99% sure I’m not triggering anything because she is very used to me and knows I won’t hurt her babies.

It’s quite odd, I am hoping it just a mosquito bite or something like that, just to make myself feel less worried 😆

It's doesn't look that swollen so hopefully it's just a big bite or an injury. It doesn't currently look like anything to worry about.
