Well I'm a woman turkey hunter but in my years since I started the closest I got to a bird was missing one at 10 yards

I think mother nature doesn't want me to get a bird in my life time lol. Even during the youth hunts when I was younger. Got drawed for Atterbury a few times. First time I got drawed was for 2 days -first day had a gobbler coming and a !@#$ing guy came back walking his dog and never seen the bird again (he wasn't supposed to be back there and took off after my father ran wildly at him

), -second day heard a couple birds then they shut up, turned out there were two women back in the woods by us hunting mushrooms

Second year got drawed for 2 days -first day I messed up and missed, people told me turkeys don't come in at 10 yards

Shot over him and watched him fly off into the sky bewildered and teary eyed. Cried my eyes out that day. -Second day heard a bird but her was hung up on hens we believe

Third year didn't get picked to go because I was to old.
Fourth year the changed the rules and got chosen for 1 day. That day had tom coming in but was to far. Was hung up on a fenceline and wouldn't come to the decoys. Went back in the shrubs never to be seen again. Later that day had a gobbler coming in and then he shut up, time was up so we went back to the truck and go figure. Someone was parked there mushroom hunting. Somehow I kept myself from slashing tires...

I'm just about to give up on turkey hunting LOL It's destiny that I don't get a bird.

Aw, don't feel bad, Attack Chicken! If it makes you feel any better, I have been hunting the better part of 6 years and haven't taken a spring bird yet! We have a great time in the fall season here, but the spring birds are just super tough where I am at. Last year was great, we had one coming in hot for the first time in my life! He was heading right for us when someone else very close by shot him... on private property where they shouldn't have been. I was pretty bummed out but that's hunting for you, sometimes!

I wish you the best in the future! Don't give up. For me, at least, the best part of hunting is just being out there. You can see some amazing wildlife and sights when you are hunting.

My favorite moments are often spent watching the other animals with my husband and dad!

Thats what I like about it!

Much more fun then deer hunting(even though I've taken one

) because you most of the time know were the birds are at.
The only place we have to hunt now is in a different county so it's a drive. NWTF relocated a flock of birds out there a few years ago and we've heard 2 or 3 gobblers down along the creek. With all this rain the creek has overflowed its banks so it doesn't look like we are going to get out there didn't get out even once to turkey hunt

Been hunting around 6 years aswell here for a turkey

Can't fall hunt in the county were we can hunt.

I enjoyed the turkey pictures.

This is the first year I haven't gone. Been recovering from open heart surgery and just didn't get into it this year. Probably wouldn't have mattered. I've only killed two birds during spring gobbler season. I just can't call them in. I think the calls I buy are no good. LOL!!! Or else they are trick calls that tell the birds, "Don't come over here or this guy will shoot you!"

I'm an avid deer hunter though. I call them in quite often with a grunt tube. I just can't talk turkey.

I love getting out with the family and trying to bag a nice gobbler.
Unfortunately for me and my brother, someone patterned the turkeys as well as we did this year, they were headed right for us when someone opened up on them.

Maybe next year.
