Turkey in with chickens

In the spring I am thinking about getting a couple of turkeys can I put them in with the chickens or will I have to build another coop. Thank you

It would be best to build another area on ground that has not had chickens on it. Google histomoniasis and you'll see why.

If blackhead is in your area the chickens can spread it to your turkeys and it can kill the turkeys. If blackhead is not present, then turkeys and chickens can be kept together.

There are other issues with keeping turkeys and chickens together such as the ability of turkeys to easily kill chickens if they so desire.

Many people keep chickens and turkeys together with minor issues and others don't keep turkeys and chickens together because of past major issues such as dead chickens.

Turkeys need much more "personal" space than chickens. One way to guarantee problems is to keep chickens and turkeys together in crowded conditions.
