Turkey injury...Help wanted

I have a turkey whose toe was bitten off by a rat. Before you ask the brooder has been closed up and food and water have been placed inside to prevent the rat from taking another try at the turkey. It is the only one left out of three. Bait and traps have been put out. Anyway I need to know what to clean the foot with, can I put some ointment on it? Any thoughts?

If it isn't bleeding I would try to keep it clean but just let it heal on it's own. You could try antibiotic ointment but I don't think it will stay long.

If cleanly `bitten off' (no bone showing) then keep on clean bedding and apply betadine twice a day. Otherwise debride and wrap.
