Hello,
I have an almost 6 month turkey hen that is seeming lethargic, spreading out her wings and barely eating. We brought her in to isolate her and her feces is liquid. We are thinking it is possibly blackhead but we have no idea what to do or how to treat/help. The past few days she has had her wings open and panting but we thought it was just because of the heat and we have been trying our best to cool her down. We are currently giving her cayenne pepper mixture with water and monitoring her. She is a pet turkey so we could really like to save her. Please HELP!!!!

Can you provide photos of her and her poop?

What do you feed?

Below you will find treatment for Blackhead if that's what you suspect.

Is this a pet turkey? Is a vet an option?

If mine, this is what I would give:
  • Metronidazole for blackhead - 23 mg per pound orally once a day for five days.
  • Baytril (enrofloxacin) for E.coli - 7 mg per pound orally twice a day for 3-5 days.
  • Baycox (toltrazuril) for coccidiosis - 10 mg per pound orally once a day for 2-3 days.
  • Safeguard (fenbendazole) for cecal worms - 23 mg per pound orally once. Repeat in 10 days.

Below is a picture of her feces. My husband checked on her this morning and she was still acting the same. I don’t have a picture of her with how she is acting currently, only a picture of her acting normal. I have her on a game bird feed from the local feed store.
