I have a blue slate and her clutch of 5 eggs is hatching right now! One is out already but i was just wondering if they are good parents or not? When she gets off the nest with her clutch i will post pictures because i got a camera now!

Mine has been a great mom, I took seven from here as it was cold and wet when they hatched, and left her a few, she still has them. Mine free range for the most part and she has them out all day foraging and talks to them the whole time, she has kept them away from the other turkeys, at night she takes them into the goat pasture, don't know if she feels safer there or not, I would rather she go into the barn with them, but she doesn't.

Some are good moms and some are not. I raise all of my poults myself even if they are hatched by moms. I think they bond to me more and make better pets. I can keep them safe. It is all what ever you want to do and have time for. I am experienced in brooding poulty so it works for me.
