Turkey Poult Flipping Over

My little bourbon poult Rosie did that for the whole first week of her life. She'd flip over on her back and couldn't right herself so I'd turn her back over and she was fine. By the end of the week she just quit doing it, like the strength in her legs had finally caught up with how fat her head was or something. She's now (a he) almost 3 months old and quite healthy.

Hi Nancy, I just found this thread. Glad the babies are doing better. I haven't had that problem with any of my turkeys but you never know what will happen.

They are still fine this afternoon and walking around. They are just so beautiful and I NEVER thought I would say that about a turkey. They colors are so striking, their legs are so LONG, and they feel so downy!

I am hoping that the little one was just weak on his legs when he was flipping over. Compared to my ducks, these guys are so friendly and sweet natured. I'm so in love with them! I might have to try more to see if I can get better results.

Just need to keep them away from our insane postal delivery woman.....my husband calls her the "egg shaker".
