It's a BB is the first problem. Second problem is they really need to be with other turkeys. That would be great because then I’d be able to keep her with no problems… right?

Well that was the goal. Wish I didn’t lose the other one. It's a BB is the first problem. Second problem is they really need to be with other turkeys.
BB are meant to be harvested around 16 wks. They don't have a good quality of life unless feed is restricted and lots of exercise.Well that was the goal. Wish I didn’t lose the other one.
I wanted to get a few more so I’ve been calling TSC for a few weeks now asking if they have turkeys and each week they said no.
I somehow managed to have my Buff Cochin broody adopt all 8 including the two turkeys.I got two more today!

Prepare to have chicken/turkey problems once the turkeys are adults. The turkeys are being imprinted by the chicken. Once they are adults they will not understand that there is a difference between chickens and turkeys. The turkeys will treat the chickens the same as they would other turkeys. The size difference can be disastrous for the chickens.I somehow managed to have my Buff Cochin broody adopt all 8 including the two turkeys.
I just plopped her into the nest full of chicks and she took them as her own.

I also have some new pips from my other broody who’s been sitting on eggs for a while!

(the one in the back was squished by the broody so I think it’s dead)
Turkeys don't speak or understand chicken. You can tell he’s not used to the broody’s call.
You need to separate it from the chickens. It can and will kill the chicks. The big turkey thinks the baby chicks are food. He pecks them and I’m worried he can hurt them hard if the broody’s not around.
Stick to chickens, you are not ready for turkeys.Anyway that’s an update on the homestead. I got another broody and she’s my most reliable so I’m tempted to do yet another hatch but I have far too many chicks right now. The chicken math dilemma…
Friend kept having banty chicks disappear , broody was raising.... finally seen a turkey eating them like cricketsThe big turkey thinks the baby chicks are food
