Turkey Poult with Tendon issues..... Farewell Pokey :(

You might want to use an old towel or something rougher in the future. We have cochins and they are known for slip tendons and the rougher surface seems to help.

You can try to see if you can help him, you never know he might straighten it out.

Out of all my hatches and a lot have been Cochins, I have never had anything like this. The shelf liner is the bumpy kind with little holes so as not to block off the water from the trays. So you think hobbling again like for splay is the best option?

I also had a turkey poult two years ago with this problem. I tried everything I could think of the correct the problem but nothing worked.

I know that is a very hard decision. We put it off until the poor girl couldn't walk anymore. I agree with Steve. The more weight she gained, the worse the problem became.

Honestly no, I don't think it will help. But you said you wanted to give him all the chances you can so why not try. There aren't really many options.

I will try it again and if he is not better by the weekend I will do what needs to be done. This is the really crappy part of hatching.

Yes it is.
But what kind of quality of life would it have, turkeys like to run and jump and just be turkeys and by keeping and breeding the strongest, best birds you are helping your flock in the long run.
Do you have other turkeys or did you buy the eggs?
