I run out of molasses to put in water can I use honey?
How old do turkeys need to be before putting on ground?
Three months?
Can I put poults or chickens chicks on ground with a BROODER AREA with a heat lamp?
It to wet right now to put anything on the ground, they be in knee high grass or mud.

Yes, you can use honey or even just sugar. I have chicks and poults together out a heat light. Not sure how old to put them out, I'll have to figure that one out too.

The only thing ours get is clean fresh water. If they are shipped we add some vitamins to the water for the first couple days after that back to plain water.

It depends on the time and year and temp as to when we put them out on the ground, and where they are going. It's warm enough here now 80's during the day 60's at night for them to go out at 2 1/2 to 3 months. But, they are going into a covered grow out pen - even when it's warm poults can get wet and chilled quickly if that happens you will loose some. One rule of thumb is when they are fully feathered out. Even then in a hard summer rain they will pile and smother if they aren't used to being outside. That's why we went to a covered grow out pen - it's roughly 5 months plus before ours are ever turned out with the rest of the flock to range.

I only give mine sugar water the first day, with both my poults and peachicks, I keep mine on wire untill 3 months then put them on the ground, also worm them after a month on the ground.

I dont think you need anything in the water after the first day, that just give them time to start eating.

It for engery during that first week and I used it for the turkeys and chicks and they did wonderful.
Harp really been helpful and I will PM you what he sent me. But it be this evening.
I am picking up a pair of grown Chocolate this weekend. And I got some Black Spanish poults coming now to find some sweetgrass ,calico and one other that my husband wants.
Heat !00 frist week,95 the second and so on
No draft
Warm water in waters
Teach them where the water and feed is. I used bright color marbles in water.
High protein feed
Room for them to grow.
Listen to them because they will tell you of something wrong fast.

I never used honey before but I'm sure it would work.

We keep ours on wire till they are 8-10 weeks old, after they are around 6-8 weeks we move them outside to a 3 sided covered wire floor pen that way they can get use to the weather

You can raise the poults on a floor system but need to make sure that the floor is kept pretty clean compared to the way chicks can get.
here it is easier to keep them off the floor as it is wet here and we ared still in the 50's for the days and 40's for the nights, we rarely get to 80 day times and when we do it is only for a week or two. most of the time it is 60-70 day and 40-50 at night. with alot of rain

How are your poults doing ??

Harp they growing fast
Three different kinds, only lost one of the 8 and that was before the water went down and I could go get them. I am happy with them.
