I was wanting sweetgrass or blue slate but haven't had luck and ran across some on craigslist a pair of bourbon reds and I bought bronze hen to go with them what will the cross produce? They're 11-12months old the bronze I think is older when can I expect eggs? What do I need to know on turkeys what diseases are common I've had chickens for years and ducks but this is my first time with turkeys

I've read over it but the only thing ive found was breeding red bronze together I'm new to turkeys and genetics loose me lol

I'm wanting to breed the red bronze back to the bourbon red male I should have been more clear with my intentions

Just guessing here but my guess is that if you cross the bourbon red with the red bronze you should only get red bronze and bourbon reds. The red bronze has the genes for both bronze and bourbon red. The bourbon red has only the bourbon red genes. The bourbon red will contribute the bourbon red gene to all of the eggs. The red bronze will contribute the bronze gene to 50% of the eggs and the bourbon red gene to the other 50% of the eggs. The eggs which end up with the bourbon red gene and the bronze gene will be red bronzes. The eggs that end up with both bourbon red genes will be bourbon reds.

Red bronze look really cool, I hatched quite a few last year!
