This little guy or girl is about 1/3 the size of its 5 Bourbon Red brothers and sisters. It also has wings that seem to be deformed but Im no expert. Looking at it overhead it seems like they stick out ackwardly as it walks around the brooder, and in the above picture you can see the gap with no feathers. The wing on it's opposite side is exactly the same. It seems happy just hasnt been growing like it's roommates. It's very close to the same size when i got it in the mail a week ago from efowl.com. It seems to be eating and drinking just as much as the others too. Is this normal??? Oh BTW they are 9 days old today.

if it's eating and drinking, then i'd just keep an eye on him but wouldn't worry too much about it. I'm sure he'll start to grow soon...or maybe he's a banty turkey LOL.

Ok, I'm not as worried about size as I am about it's strange wings. Have you guys ever had poults with big sections of missing feathers like that??? I'll try and post an overhead pic of it when I get home tonight. They just stick out funny like they are deformed or broken or something. The only thing I can compare (first time poultry raising) it to is the other 9 poults in the brooder and none of them have wings that stick out on the side like this lil one.. They all stretch and open their wings and I've never seen this one do that once. Can't help but wonder if the size and the strange wings are all tied into larger genetic issues... I realize there isn't much I can do, but Im still wondering if anyone's had anything similar in their experience?

It came to me three days after it was hatched by mail so I cant say. When I first got them they were all the same size so this never popped out at me. Now the others dwarf this one and its funky wings stick out like a sore thumb.

Oh ok. If I were you, I would call the place that I got them from and inquire about the wings and the condition that it was sent to you and get more background on the little buddy.

That's exactly what I just did. Let's see what they say. Thanks kuntrygirl!

Great!!! I can't wait to hear what they say. If they sent you that little buddy in that condition and didn't warn you, then shame on them. And why did they send him in the first place. They sent you "damaged goods". They need to send you a healthy poult in place of that one.

I will be waiting patiently. ;)

Hi Josh,

Thanks for your follow up. I'm glad your birds got in, but I'm sorry that one of the of the birds is having trouble. As long as that bird is eating and drinking, it should grow and develop. However, I will note that you informed us about it. If we lose it at any point, or it does not develop properly, please let us know and we can compensate you for it.

Thanks,

Austin
