Are there turkey sounds that ONLY hens make? I read that only toms will gobble. I have a turkey with my chickens that is very tame. I am really hoping it's a hen because I read that you can't have a tom with your chickens because he will try to breed them. I posted pics on another forum and people are saying tom (it's only 8 weeks).

Anyways, yesterday I had the turkey with me and I went into our carport and there was a bale of straw on a pallet. I heard the weirdest sound, and found out it was coming from the turkey! It was walking really slow around the straw with it's neck stretched out and low, feathers fluffed but tail not fanned, and was making this almost clicking noise. As soon as I said something to it, it stopped and ran towards me. I looked on YouTube, and it sounded just like "cutting"? What does this sound mean?? Do both sexes make this sound?? Please help a turkey newbie

Yes both sexes can make that sound. Mine typically make it when they are prowling for grasshoppers. They move very slowly with their heads near the ground making the sound to get the hoppers to make a move and then the hoppers are lunch. Yours probably thought it spotted something (perhaps a mouse) and was trying to get it to make a move in order to catch it. Yes turkeys will catch and eat small creatures such as mice.

A lone tom will try to breed anything it can and if that happens to be a chicken the end result is usually not good for the chicken as it can end up being a flat chicken.

I am going to cross my fingers and hope for a hen. I tried picking the poult with the smallest snood bump, smallest feet. Maybe they were all toms... No gobble yet...
