I have a friend who has decided to feed his chickens turkey starter grower because he thinks it will boost his egg production. I have my muscovy ducks on that because of the protien and they do well, but not my chickens. Won't this harm his flock? Would this really boost egg production or wouldn't it just screw up the eggs?

I want to suggest he get a bunch of leghorns

if he wants to boost production instead of messing up his flock. I need BYC feedback from the pro's before I have this conversation with him.

Im not really sure, depends how much of a difference in the feed. I don't think you would want to much protien in it though, that might cause them to gain a little weight and might be too high for them. chicken feeds are made to fit a chickens diet and for egg production. Might be better if teh person mixed the feeds? I don't know..guess see if anyone else has done it before.
