Can someone help me please!!! My sweet baby has been broody for some time now. I was regularly collecting eggs and urging her to get out and get food and water as much as I could, and I did not notice this spot until tonight. I feel absolutely awful:( what could have caused this?! She hasn't been eating as much but I didn't think nothing of it. I just figured it was because she was rushing to go back to lay on her eggs. I separated her and investigated this wound more. You can almost see bone!! What do i do?! Going to the vet is a hard option at the moment due to vet being too far and at the moment I'm low on funds. They sweet girl is my baby and I just don't know what to do!!!!! Please please help!! What could have caused this, and what do I do to prevent infection? I'm going to get betadine and and antibiotic ointment first thing in the morning. Antibiotic wise all I have is doxycycline, penicillin, and Tylan 50

Not sure, but that may be result of fly strike.
I would apply Vetericyn , and dress wound with gauze to keep clean.
If you have Blu-Kote, that may work as well.
Vetericyn seems to be a preferred one by quite a few members here on BYC.
I personally used Blu-Kote on chicken wounds, and worked well for me.

If it was fly strike wouldn't there be maggots or Larvae? The wound was completely cleared out from what I seen.. I did apply Blue-Kote lastnight but I'm almost wondering if it wouldn't hurt to give her a few doses of antibiotics just to make sure that this does not get infected? Thank you so much!!!

You are correct,, but those maggots may have gotten removed by the turkey pecking them off, or rubbing them off. :idunno
The open wound still have remained. :(
I'm not very knowledgeable on antibiotics administered orally. I would first choose an antibiotic ointment like available for people.

Make sure you get the antibiotic cream WITHOUT pain relief.
