Hello!
My turkey has an injured leg and I’m really hoping to get some advice. My husband found him in the pond and when I got him dried off and warmed up I discovered this nasty injury. He can not put any weight on it. I have him in a nest box in the house and I put antibacterial medicine on the wound. He obviously had it before getting into the pond and is probably why he couldn’t walk up the latter. Poor thing🥺

I think it is broken, question is can it be healed?

Is it truly broken? Or is that an ulcer? What breed and how old? Breaks can heal, but best set by a vet for the best success.
The joint is swollen and bruised and he can not put any weight on it. The purplish area is smooth, it isn’t broken skin. I put medicine on it just incase. We can not take turkey to the vet, unfortunately. I will have to try to treat him at home. Do you think I should splint it or just keep him off of it?
He is about 2/2.5 months old. I’m not sure of the breed but he is solid white. He is so sweet and gentle. I just so bad for him.

I'm not sure if a splint or taping it to the body is the best course of action. If nothing seems off in alignment I might just let it be and see. I'm not a vet. Was it raised on a gamebird starter? Poults need a higher protein ration initially. Sometimes leg problems can occur if they don't get the proper ration.

Yes we did starter, I believe my husband stepped on him…while mowing the grass the turkeys were following him and turkey got under his feet and was stepped on. He limped on it but seem to be okay…then he fell in the pond and I think injured his leg further.
