Posted this in another forum but didn’t get a reply so thought I might post here as well, I just recently got my third Turkey after the other 2 died from already being sick where I got them, now the third Turkey which was purchased later is showing health issues (possibly respiratory) he was seeming okay but I’ve noticed he has been pooping a orange-red poop and when I hold him it sounds like he’s making a popping noise when he breathes, this seems very serious so please help me out! They have electrolytes and probiotics in their water and I heard VetRX can work for respiratory but that’s all I know, please please comment if you have any info! It’s hard for me to sleep or relax knowing this so it would be greatly appreciated if someone gave me advice.. I’ll also answer any questions as well if need be.

Is there any special medication I should get? I’m not even sure he’s going to make it through the night because it looks like he’s struggling to breathe (he’s breathing out of his mouth) not sure how much he weights but he’s around a week old.. I don’t want to lose another Turkey.. I just got him 2 days ago, and if he dies this will be my third Turkey dead.. do you think I’m getting them already sick? Maybe the place I’m buying them isn’t reliable Turkey wise, but I don’t know what to do at this point, I’m so lost and I just want him to get better!

I’m so sorry, that sounds like they are sick with blackhead disease. Red poop is a late sign. It can be on your property and chickens are sometimes carriers.

There isn’t much for successful treatment for it.

This was a post I made a very long time ago sadly yes they did die but they were never around any of my flock or outside yet, we believe that the carrier we got them from had given them to us already sick because we had only had them for 2 days, it was a truly sad experience but now I have 2 full grown beautiful Jenny’s who haven’t faced the same issue i think this was just a misfortunate situation that was somewhat helpful because the carriers gave me the wrong type of Turkey anyway, I had originally ordered two royal palms and was given two chocolate turkeys and since they were my first turkeys I didn’t really know the difference, ghost and goblin were my first turkeys and even though I didn’t spend much time with them I still loved them very much, thank you for replying though!
