Turkey with returning sour crop?

Pics
OK, I am a seamstress, and have other artistic talents. This is the first time I have ever designed a crop bra for a turkey!

Here it is. You will have to tweek the design to fit your turkey. So, be ready to chop up a couple of tee shirts.

Keep fitting each one to the turkey till you get it right. When you finally have a perfect fit, trace it on paper, and keep it as your pattern. You'll need it.

Here is what I would do. Use the entire tee shirt, cutting to the back of it, so that the straps are as long as possible. Then, you can shorten them if needed.

Some chickens wear a crop bra for life, others, off and on. Your the keeper, you'll have to monitor her progress, and make that decision.

Hope this will get you creative juices flowing! :thumbsup

Omg that actually makes so much sense and looks pretty easy to make I’ll just have to get a couple T-shirt’s to try it out and experiment with it, may take some time and multiple tries!!!
Thanks so much for that that’s easy to visualize and try out )
You’re major help right now.

And so I’d tie the straps behind her neck loosely but enough to keep it up and on and same with the back but not too tight? And then the crop section to support her crop, it’s supposed to be tight enough to completely cover her chest and crop all the way and keep it up and supported? It completely covers her chest and crop correct, not like sitting underneath the crop to push it up? And how will I know when the crop bra is in the correct position?

Here is a chicken wearing a crop bra. See how it just fits flat on the breast? The fabric merely applies a gentle support, so that the crop doesn't sag or bulge so much. It is not intended to make the crop completely flat. If you feel a chicken crop when it has food in it, there is a bulge. But, if a chicken has a pendulous crop, there is more than a bulge. It is like a loose bag which hangs and sways.

You'll know it's in the correct position, by feeling her crop. Is it being gently supported, or, is the bra too loose, and the crop is still hanging low. The crop should feel like a smaller bulge than it did, before you put on the crop bra. The turkey should be able to eat and drink, normally with it on, too.

Her pendulous crop will not heal overnight. This will be a rehabilitative process for your girl. And being that she is a turkey, she may always have to wear a crop bra.

I can't say for certain, if the crop bra will work for a turkey. This is something new for me too. So keep notes on the process. Other turkey owners may need your help, in the future.

God Bless :)

Okay yes that make sense :)

Will do for sure I’ll update as this whole process continues to play out. It’s new for me and you and many others I’m sure! She is a big girl. But a very sweet pretty one :)

Thank you so so much for being here and for helping me with my sweet Ebony. She is VERY loved. I definitely want to keep her around as long as I can. She’s family.

Today her crop was a bit smaller but not completely obviously. Was less filled by the looks of it and the feel. (Note that I haven’t done anything to make it go down) it just looked smaller today, she also had more poop.

We are going to cut up some old T-shirt’s today/ tomorrow and trace multiple patterns and try and get something figured out but when we do find something best believe I’ll be posting it up on her and showing and telling you all :) gonna take some time I’m sure

Hoping you can update on the progress of your turkey? I have one that looks just like her... I have not had good luck with impacted crop, I had one develop it from eating bermuda grass, and resolved not to let them ever eat that again... I tried to treat her, but she died in a few days. Now I am looking for a way to help this new case, a BB Bronze hen like yours, only a year old, very pendulous, fluid filled crop. Guess I'll try the bra, to start. Don't know why this happened, as the turkeys have no access to grass, which caused the last one's problem. It has been very hot here very suddenly and possibly she has just drank excessively and it has strained and stretched the muscles to the point the crop won't empty. I am thinking of aspirating fluid out of it, as I can't think of anything she can have eaten that would cause a blockage. Unless she is egg bound or something. I only noticed this this morning. Hoping your turkey is well and the bra was helpful...
