Turkey

this is our turkeys fourth brooder. The grow much faster the chicken chicks.

we started with 105 qt plastic containers for a week then our 15 out grew that brooder.

The containers had an old cheap blanket on it's bottom. for the first week we layed the starter ration on the blanket so they could find it, then switched to a regular chick feeder.

There other two brooders were just some quick knock together pens. This brooder in the picture is 8 foot by 12 foot. We use a 3 gallon water, and a 22 lb feeder for them now.

At 4 -5 weeks the BB White and BB bronze are almost the size of our red sex link hens.
the Blue slate are little over half there size and the Red Bourbon are smaller yet.

I haven't started the coop yet, because I have been building larger brooder pens.

The turkey chicks are very curious for any type of bird, they like to check out anything shiney or red we may have on us when we go into the pen. One of our Red Bourbons seem to think it a Parrot and fly's up to set on my shoulder.
