Turkeys aggressive (?) with my daugher

Thanks for all your replies everyone. I'm back home and it was interesting to have the turkeys greet me vocally when I got out of the car and they heard my voice. I think you are right that they just didn't know my daughter and probably felt threatened when she came in to put them away for the night. She said she was embarased when she went down the next morning and saw how small they actually were. I think they both kind of scared each other in the dark. Friday night went very smoothly and I was home by Saturday night. Perhaps I should have her do turkey chores more often so that she won't get threatened when they get older and bigger.

I think that is a great idea. That way they will get to know her!

That would be a good idea but she can't act afraid. If she does and they think they are getting by with beeing brats they wont stop. My 10 year old is scared of ours so they pick on him alot. My 6 year old was scared for awhile but now chases them around and hugs them.

Sounds like an episode of the Turkey Whisperer...be calm and assertive and show them who is Alpha Turkey. Animals are so interesting aren't they? My daughter leaves for a 2 week school trip to France this Wednesday. I'll have only one more opportunity to get away between now and when these turkeys are butchering age. However, I should probably have my mom (how lives next door) keep visiting them, because while it would be sad to have my turkeys threaten my 17 year old daughter, it could be really bad if they do so to my 80 year old mother.

Yes animals are very interesting. I think it would be good to have who ever is watching them get to know them. Then if anything she will no who to keep close eyes on when they feed water etc. Knowing them by their individual personalities help alot. Anyone who comes to my house knows to watch out for Marty. But there's alot of times ppl will believe he's about to attack when really he's not. But when they think that and shy away from him or whatever he wil go after them. But I think he does it then bc he feels like he's protecting himself. I will tell people act like he's not even there. Most people don't listen though.
