Turkeys drowning in the rain?

hmmm... I have a turkey and chickens. and I'd have to disagree. the turkey doesn't seem any smarter than the chickens just different in personality. I actually found it easier to train chickens to do things. I think the turkey is stubborn sometimes. especially in the rain. all my birds seek cover except for that stubborn turkey who will stand in a downpour. Even though the turkey is the tallest, I think she'd be the first to drown of all my birds if my backyard flooded.

My turkeys don't mind a little bit of rain and have no problem being out in it, but they are definitely smart enough that when the rain gets heavy they will all go inside their coops and take cover. I have never seen one of my turkeys just stand there in a down pour.

I agree with the others that are saying the young poults are more likely to die of getting wet and chilled, not of drowning though. Mature turkeys can withstand quite a bit of harsh weather with out a problem.
