There are different disqualifications and color for each of the turkey varieties recognized by the APA, so I am not sure what he would mean by follow the bronze??

Sorry, the reason he said to follow the bronze, is that I have AUburns and I need to figure which of the 10 males to keep. I would like to keep 3-4, and cull the others BUT I need to understand the SOP to cull. ANd I Don't have an SOP yet.

I have the electric poultry netting from premiere1. I like it, but if you want to keep Turkeys in it, you will need to clip wings. That being said, It is excellent at deterring non-airborne predators.

Building our new turkey enclosure this weekend. We are adding electric to the outside perimeter and netting for the top.
I think Monday will be when my new pair of RP will be here so we are finishing the new coop tomorrow.
I plan to add 3 hens (BBW) 4 months old to my new tom's harem, giving him 4 ladies. They are still normal sized because I make them free range

I know the owner so I plan to do a quick check on the birds, and add them to the new build.
I have 7 poults I would love to add to the "Gobble house", 4 RP, 3 BR guess will see how the two new adult birds accept the BBWs first...
What does everyone suggest?

sorry for the not so great pic, but I was wondering about one of my poults. See that tiny little guy to the far right? He's the exact same age as the others. He eats the same, and is just as active as they are. Is he a runt? Are there even such things as runt turkeys? He's also the friendliest of all my hen-raised poults. I wonder if he'll ever catch up in size, or just be a very small adult.

Sorry if I'm repeating a question already posted. I usually am on the Silky sites, but need advice on turky chicks.

I have a yr old Bourbon Red Turkey Tom, a yr old Blue Slate hen and a 2yr old Bourbon Red Hen. My 2 hens hatched 8 eggs May 6th. There were a lot more eggs but the Tom saw them sitting and thought it was an invitation for him to come visit. Crushed a lot of the eggs. Before the chicks were even 6 weeks old the 2 hens started laying eggs again. Chicks have been hatching now for the past 3-4 days, but the Blue Slate hen who was doing all the sitting was rejecting the chicks so they are in the Brooder. One of the chicks head & neck are trembling like a bad case of palsy!! They are in a clean brooder and have only been there since last evening (7/14/13). Is it likely this chick is going to die? Any advice?

What does SOP stand for? Of the 9 turkey chicks that have hatched for me so far, they all seem to be from the Bourbon Red hen/Tom BUT - one chick is a DEEP Auburn. Even the legs are of a matching color, although the feet are a more neutal color. Is this a throw back?

standard of Perfection = SOP, criteria for each APA breed.

I wish I had answers for you on the health of that poult. Perhaps some vitamins and wait and see. IDK. Color I am terrible at. Sorry.
