Another question, in trying to make my decision between MW's and BR's I think this is going to be the deciding factor.......Do the MW's eat significantly less than the BR's, considering the size difference? Thanks again, (MW's = Midget Whites and BR's = Bourbon Reds)
I'm not sure on the MWs. I never had those. :pop

Kuntrygirl, you've had some Royal Palms before, I think. How did those compare to your BR's? I'm sure there was a noticeable difference there!

Royal Palms? I didn't have any. I don't think I did.

Did I?

No, I wish I did. But I never had any.
lol, got you mixed up with someone. Sorry.

I think you use an Auburn tom on Bronze hens and all the female offspring will be bronze and the male offspring will be Auburn. It might be the other way around. You can probably confirm what is correct by calling Kevin Porter, he's a turkey genetics genius. That's where I get most of my info from, he's got all the years and resources invested in it.
You won'd even need to talk to him-- it is listed on the Auburn page. I have a few auburns, well , more than a few, lol, just need a bronze to make sexlinks..

We have an Auburn Tom from Porters and asked Kevin Porter that same question...

Auburn Tom to a Brone hen will give you Auburn Hen (pure), and bronze toms (carrying the brown gene)

the Bronze tom to Auburn hen will result in all bronze offspring the hens pure bronze and toms that are brown carriers.

that sumarizes his response to us

So, after all of these years, these light colored poults are just appearing? I'm sooooooooo confused. :hit :idunno

Yeah people ask me how much I would sell a hen for and I tell them $100. They usually don't ask me again, lol.

I got about 3 emails and 1 phone call today about hens. I definitely agree with you about $100.00 for a hen. IF and only IF I have any extra hens, I will NOT go lower than $100.00. They can take it or leave it. Cause when you look at it, WE all DON'T HAVE TO sell our females. They are our money makers and baby makers too. So, all I can say is "CHA CHING" to anyone who wants to buy some females from here on out. .

I'm blowing on my dice and rolling them and saying, "Mama want a full incubator of hens". :gig Let the bidding begin.
