Turkeys For 2013

Humm, , , I haven't seen that model in person to know the details.  So I am limited to thowing out ideas.

Are the sponges underwater? Or on top of the water??  Try to keep the sponge exposed. THe sponge surface area is much more than the surface area of the water because of the little cells.

I s there a fan?  Putting moisture in in that area will increase the overall moisture.

Can you fit in a small cup about the size of an egg, cut a sponge to stand very tall to the white plastic. Especially if you can put it under the vent where you can more easily add water with out opening it.

The sponge is IN the water tray, so it's wet. Do I have it in the wrong place. Should it not be emerged in the water? I don't think there is a fan. I never saw one. I think I can put in a small cup.

I have the next model up from that one: The Octagon 20 advance. Your model does have a fan, but they are usually pretty quiet on these.

To keep the humidity up I cut sponge and completely fill the trays with it. Then lay a couple layers of paper towels over top of that. If you are hatching in this....this is where the straw idea comes in handy. A bendy straw fits down into the vent hole and you can rig a funnel out of wax paper or a zip lock baggie with the corner cut out.

However, I had issues with shrink wrapping on the slowpokes who pipped and then took a long break. Instead, I picked up on of the Little Giant Still Air incubators and hatch in there. That way, I can stagger hatching too.

Just an idea. Good luck!

Ok. I do have the sponges and they are in the trays. I do not have paper towels on top of them but I will do that when I get home. I will also pick up straws at the Dollar Tree today when I get off from work. I will try this and hope for the best this weekend. The little buggars hatched 2 days early last hatch.

THERE BETTER NOT BE ONE SINGLE POULT THAT HAS HATCHED BY THE TIME I GET HOME TODAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :barnie

THEY BETTER WAIT UNTIL SUNDAY !!!!!!!!!!! :barnie

IF it is hatched then all is good!!! I open my LG even when I am hatching. I find the stuck chicks are the slow pokes that pip and stop and wait for ever to think about moving again.

WE need an update!!

Good luck with that Julie!

My poults have all been VERY anxious to get out of their eggs this season: Every single one of them hatched at least a day early, if not two. I have a Beltsville egg that is supposed to hatch on the 17th pipped externally in my hatcher right now. All the poults that have hatched are vibrant and healthy and the chicks that are hatching with them hatch on time, so it can't be that the temp is too high.

Go figure.

Ok. I made it home from work. I stopped at the Dollar Tree and found a plastic container that is used to store a slice of pizza. It is PERFECT!!! I bought it. I returned home and thank goodness that no poults had hatched. I checked the humidity and it was at 55. I took out the unsafe cup of water and removed the plastic tray and placed the pizza container with warm water on the bottom. I put the eggs back in and closed the incubator. Humidity is now at 60. Now we wish for a good hatch.

Good Luck Julie, looks like from your forecast you are going to need to take care of the humidity yourself. Keep us posted

fingers crossed for you.

Sounds like a perfect humidity to me! If you have vent holes, you might try closing some up a little to raise humidity if you are still not satisfied.
