Turkeys For 2013

Ok. I made it home from work. I stopped at the Dollar Tree and found a plastic container that is used to store a slice of pizza. It is PERFECT!!! I bought it. I returned home and thank goodness that no poults had hatched. I checked the humidity and it was at 55. I took out the unsafe cup of water and removed the plastic tray and placed the pizza container with warm water on the bottom. I put the eggs back in and closed the incubator. Humidity is now at 60. Now we wish for a good hatch.

Looks like you are good!!!!! NOw for those poults to show up.

Since turkey grower and turkey breeder are non existent in my area, took Julie's advice and bought cat fish food today. 26% protein and mixed it with layer pellets, half and half. All of the birds eat together, and they gobbled it all down. The fish food smelled like dog food to me, but all 100 pounds were consumed in half an hour. I plan on getting some 18% game bird feed, so I am sure they are getting enough protein as well as vitamins and minerals, and mixing 1 sack each. My flocks go through 100 to 150 pounds a day, depending on how much free range they have available. Sometimes there are more bugs and grasshoppers than other times. My chickens really do eat like little pigs, but the eggs have been from large to jumbo on the egg scale and a lot peg out the scale, so they would be super jumbo, I guess. Just too many eggs! I don't have any more room in the fridge!

I'm glad I"m not the only one with a refirgertor full of eggs. I've started feeding 3 a day to the dog as well as me. And I keep looking for more egg recipes!! I have a batch of picked eggs in the refirg as a test trial. HOping they are really good. HOping. Hoping Hoping.

He are you feeding eggs to the dog? My mother used to feed raw eggs to our dogs for their coats. Sue

Wait, cfhicken eggs or turkey eggs? We've only eaten one double yolker turkey egg, the rest are too valuable to eat, LOL!

Glad to hear that you got the fish food. My animals love ir as well. I wish I had all of those juicy bugs over here for my critters. It definitely makes a difference as it has with the size of your eggs.

I have been researching egg recipes for hair and face care. I'm excited about trying eggs on my face and in my hair.

A double yoker turkey egg?? Wow!!!! I love to eat turkey eggs but I dare not say that loud because if Celie hears that, I might get a good thrashing. Lol

I woke up this morning and nothing hatched. Now I'm getting nervous. I hope that I didn't kill them. I checked the humidity and it was back at 40!!!!! Why me??? Don't know what else to do but I did get out a plug in heater and turned it on to see what happens.
