Turkeys For 2013

Good morning. I posted about 30 minutes ago but I don't see my post, so I will try this again.

I woke up at 4:00 am to go outside and open the chicken coops. I checked the incubator and one egg was zipping perfectly. The humidity and temps were steady, so I was excited about that. I didn't see any other eggs zipping as of now. I can hear the baby chirping all the way in the bedroom. So, that is the status of the eggs so far. I will continue to post as things happen.

No poults yet. Humidity is still steady at 58, so I guess that extra paper towel caused the humidity to drop to 40. Temps are perfect and steady. Tomorrow is the scheduled hatch day. I'm about to take a shower and will probably go to bed in the next hour. When I wake up in the morning, I hope to see some babies. I will post and update in the morning.

Any news?

(You posted while I was, but still anxiously waiting. Do we know how many eggs are in the bator to hatch?)

Does everyone have an easy market for baby turkeys? Rosie is sitting on at least 6 and I scrambled up a few doz before. I never see them for sale around here and I really don't want more. (I would if I had more room) Thanks Sue

Good luck KuntryGirl I have been busy for the last few days and have not kept up with the news here have you stated how many Turkey Eggs you put in the Incubator.

I have some news I just found my First Turkey Egg last night when I went to Lock in the Turkeys for the night as I marveled at the very first Turkey Egg ever I gazed at it in the glimmer of the porch light only to find a hole in it the size of a Turkey Toe nail.
I think I am going to send my Daughter out and have her give all the Turkeys a Pedicure so this will not happen again

what would be a good color for Turkey Toe nail Polish

I am still waiting for the Incubator I ordered to come in the mail maybe in the next week I hope.

Since my Red Bourbons have just started to lay my First Egg yesterday I will be seeing about swapping eggs with people who who want to I have a few already that want to swap.
When they are in full swing laying mod I will post that I need addresses to send these eggs to you.

Two poults have hatched so far and 1 egg is zipping. I took a pic of them. It's not a good pic because they are still in the incubator.

Sorry that I didn't mention how many eggs are in the incubator. I put 12 eggs in the incubator. This batch of eggs was supposed to be shipped to a customer but i didn't get my foam egg shippers in time, so I couldn't let them go to waste, so I put them in the incubator.

So, that's the update for this hour. I will continue to post more details.

I had a good bit of interest in my mixed poults, listed at $10 each. I decided not to sell until I see what else hatches though.
