Sally8, hope you got good money for Chuck and Rosie! They produced a lot of beautiful poults for you.

I don't know about when they are young, but this Hen of mine, about 8-9 months old was definitely struttin' her stuff, lol.

She is so awesome! My little ones are between one month and almost 4 months old. This morning for the first time two of my Narri's were strutting! They are so pretty I love them so much! One of them waits to tug on my clothes and tries to fly on my shoulder or my back! I know this fall I will have to find mates for a couple of my Turkeys..... Hopefully I won't have to get poults and wait hopefully I will be able to find some breeding age!

My 2 RGs are growing like weeds but still act like chicks. I bought them right after Easter as day old chicks so they are just a little younger than the chickens. My supposed male "gravy" is really personable and was starting to strut but then quit. So now, I'm not even sure the he isn't a she. lol. I may just have a big hen and a little hen. I dunno. Now my lil one "din-din" is calling like a hen so I am for sure calling that one out. Sounds just like a scratch call that hunters use. The good thing is that they are growing fast and the chickens know to leave them alone now. I need to get a pic on here for sure. Uploading is such a pain in the arse with my computer. we will see.

So I found out we have a faulty incubator... But I have 2 hens sitting on 23 eggs. I have people looking to purchase from me too. How can I take the chicks away from the mother and if I do will they be friendly eventually? Today is day 27!!! Also when will I here peeps. I'm not out there a lot except to feed then and put them to bed. Can I keep my toms with them?

Chuck is just to pretty up their yard. He's kind of old to eat and she said they wouldn't anyway (who knows) We were going to butcher him today so he couldn't hurt the grand kids and I didn't want to do that. This is my first year of selling any poultry. It makes me so nervous. I'm afraid someone will come back on me for something. They haven't come after Rosie yet. I have 15 eggs in the incubator due to hatch tomorrow. I'm a little wary because the 2 days that werenear 90 caused my bator temp to go up. (102 or so for several hours) If I could pen her up for a while her eggs will still be fertile but I am tired in baby sitting the incubator.

Sally--102 should be ok. One side of the egg leans up agains a hot hen. Chicken hens run 102-- I expect turkey hens to run the same. ( DOes anyone know for sure tukey hen temp??)

So I want to do a little experiment, I have 42 eggs and was going to try to see the difference in hen raise vs person raised. Can I take some of the chicks I'm nervous that they will be super afraid. How can I make them as friendly as store hatched chicks? :?
