It is hard having to make a decision like that. I know you will make the choice that is right for you.

Kuntrygirl, I had a fox terrier who had glaucoma in both eyes at the age of 3. He had them removed within 6 months of each other. I never knew they had eye specialists for dogs! They had him on the same eye medication my grandmother was on!! He lived to be 14 years old. He was outside all the time. It was amazing to watch him run around trees (not into them) , etc.

Lisa :)
Thanks TexasLisa! I may change my mind later on. I don't know. RIght now I and just feeling protective. The motherly instinct I raised him.....

Oh yes. I drove my pitbull to Texas from Louisiana once a month for 6 months to the eye specialist for dogs. The vet was a female and she was awesome!!! And yes, they prescribe the same eye drops that people use. I was getting her eye drop prescriptions (eye drops) at the local pharmacy. Lol

A friend had a blind dog-- he went blind slowly so he knew the whole layout and had another dog to help him. I was amazed to see that dog navigate the stairs, doorways, etc. MOved around better than the toddler in the house!!

Cellie, I understand your position. That is one that comes with time and years of animal care. We'll get there. ((grin)) I'm half way . . . .

At the time I was living in Indiana. I had to drive to Ohio to see the eye specialist. I didn't care for his attitude. He was one of those 'almighty' doctors. Anyway when I went to the pharmacy they had asked me if I wanted to put it on my insurance. HA! The look on their faces was precious when I told them it was for my dog!

Help PLEASE! One of my 1 month old turkey poults got out of it's pen and my dog got it. I found it after my dog had it. The baby has a puncture under it's left wing near it's vent. But still on it's side. It is not bleeding. I have it in a box in my house! PLEASE Tell me there is something I can do to save this baby!

Is the hole large or small? You may be able to put Neosporin on it the kind without pain relief. And keep it indoors and keep the wound clean. Sorry to hear the bad news I hope it makes it. Do you have a pic?

My turkey a few weeks ago when it was about 8 weeks old got caught by a night time predator Im really thinking it was a cat. It killed 4 of my young roosters and clawed the turkeys wing. He healed just fine. I know cat claws and dog teeth are very different though.
