Is the hole large or small? You may be able to put Neosporin on it the kind without pain relief. And keep it indoors and keep the wound clean. Sorry to hear the bad news I hope it makes it. Do you have a pic?

My turkey a few weeks ago when it was about 8 weeks old got caught by a night time predator Im really thinking it was a cat. It killed 4 of my young roosters and clawed the turkeys wing. He healed just fine. I know cat claws and dog teeth are very different though.
I am so sorry about your roosters and turkey! I do know how it feels. I am so mad at my dog!

Id be mad at my dog too though I guess its in their nature. I tried not to be mad at the animal that got my roosters I was more mad at myself for letting them roost in the trees. They really liked it up their and they looked so natural. But after the attack every one gets locked up again. There are still 4 chickens(3 young roosters and a pullet) that insist on sleeping in the trees every night, so every night I pluck them down one by one and put in their shelter.

Keep us updated on her progress. I hope the wound isn't too deep. If kept clean and she doesn't pick at it, it might heal nicely.

So there must just be some really bad luck going around. I just went outside to one of my coops where I have a broody sitting on eggs due to hatch this weekend. Well my group of 4 tree roosting misfits made their way into the broody coop and got one of her eggs. the chick was fully developed but they broke the egg open. Agh I am having the worst broody luck this week. And to top it off just a few days ago the turkey hens broke another one of their eggs that had a developing poult inside.

I hope the rest of them will be ok!

I'm so sorry about all your losses. I know dogs only do what is bred in them and chasing chickens and turkeys are part of it but it sure doesn't make it any easier. I'd like to say that my dogs wouldn't hurt mine but I'm sure if they were running, the dogs would be chasing.

Oh yes. I drove my pitbull to Texas from Louisiana once a month for 6 months to the eye specialist for dogs. The vet was a female and she was awesome!!! And yes, they prescribe the same eye drops that people use. I was getting her eye drop prescriptions (eye drops) at the local pharmacy. Lol
kuntrygirl, my DIL has a blind dog that she adopted as a puppy that way. She then adopted another puppy for a seing eye dog for the first one. She taught them to each hold on to a rope toy and that way the little blind dog could run around the yard and play with a play mate! She still has them and a whole lot more animals! But now the blind little puppy can go anywhere it wants and find it's way back to the house or food dishes!

I had taken this picture just before I sold this little guy. He was so friendly as he hatched a month after everyone else so he was raised with the chicks in the bathtub.

Awwwwwww, that is beautiful. My blind dog also had the entire place memorized. She didn't miss a beat. She memorized the place so well until she caught one of my brother's baby piglets and killed it when she was outside walking around. Til this day, I never told him what happened. I had to dispose of the body discreetly. So, I definitely understand how blind animals can get around just the same if not better than seeing animals.
