Turkeys insides falling out? Warning Graphic!

She had some white diarrhea this morning. I came home to this after work. Chickens were pecking at it when I got home. We took her away from them. My chickens aren’t aggressive. This turkey is actually the aggressive one. She once had a bloody wing and none of the chickens even dared to touch it. We feed them normal feed. I don’t know what exactly it is. We do feed them some corn too though. Should we take that away?

Bummer.. sorry you lost her..

I have only seen something like that once, and that was caused by an injury that became infected with fly strike. Also that was a rooster where I missed the original injury and the strike for a day or two..

Do you have any other birds or animals with your turkeys? Cats, dogs, mice, rats, ermine?

How many turkeys? Number of hens and Toms?

Somehow, I think an injury occurred, prolapse maybe.. then the others ripped her apart..

Was she low on the totem pole?

As cold as it has been the last couple nights could her feathers have frozen to something and she ripped them out when she de-roosted?

Lots of questions and not many answers... sorry...

We have 6 chickens, a rooster, and two hen turkeys. Then just two dogs that don’t go near them. Mice are a possibility because I found a dead one in the chicken run. This turkey would’ve been 2nd to the Rooster. She was pretty high up in the flock order. She was the boss of the flock until we got a rooster. He doesn’t even mess with her. But two chickens were pecking at her like crazy when I got home. I have no idea what happened since I wasn’t home. I didn’t think much of the white diarrhea this morning but now I feel awful about not looking into it in time... Now I’m trying to remember if I noticed anything else the last few days but I honestly don’t know. It’s been freezing so that’s a possibility. Yesterday was about -30 with windchill. Today was -10 with windchill. My mind is pretty scattered right now :(

Thanks.. it is hard to say... I would not think much about one or two loose runny stools.. they have them often (cecal poop) and some are just runny.

Try not to beat yourself up.. when there is a blood spot.. the birds turn into cannibals... and they are bored in this never ending winter we have this year.
