turkeys setting their own eggs

Hello everyone,
I have a trio of Narragansett turkeys (1 male 2 female) that are nine months old
The hens started laying eggs about a week ago, my question is will they hatch their eggs this spring or will they just let the eggs go because they are still so young?

my Narragansett hybrids do not want to set very well, but my blue slate is good at it.She sat faithfully for a month andthen I got concerned about her eggs so I pulled them and incubated them. They all hatched. Ithink it just depends on the breed and their willingness to set.

My narri hen is 2 and is a setting machine.

All of my 10 month old hens are setting nests now. They are not narri but bourbon red. Blue slate and royal palms and Spanish black.

They will have no problem going broody this spring. If they have only been laying a week they need a little more time.

Most of my young hens are setting on about 12 eggs a piece. But each hen has her own magic number for when she thinks there are enough eggs to set on.

Just leave eggs in nest to see if they will set or take eggs from nest and replace with fake eggs or chicken eggs till one if them starts to set. Then replace their eggs.

thankd for the response i was realy hopning thaty would this year and no tjust waste the eggs they had laid so your post is good news

What they are laying now is not a waste. Turkey eggs eat as good or better than chicken eggs.

Right you are, I never thought to eat them I just met I would rather see them hatch them out

I have a Narragansett trio too. I have 1 hen that has hatched the eggs two years in a row now. She just started sitting the other day on her third hatch. The other hen that I have never sits, so I think it just depends on the bird.

Can someone help me? I have three last year's Tom's and three this year's hens, both from spring hatches. My hens are ready to set but the Tom's won't have anything to do with them. Would it be okay to pen a Tom up with the hens. One of my little gals had three eggs under her and setting so proudly but they are not fertilized I know. Any suggestions?

Yes that would ve fine to pen a tom up with the hens.

Are you sure there has been no mating going on. They can be sneaky.

My toms range from 5 years old to 9 months and all show interest in hens.

I'm almost positive they haven't been together mating. I'm going to try to pen them up. I'll keep you posted and thanks. By the way, one of my hens is blind, have you ever heard of that. She does fine though.
