Turkeys!!

Hello, I have eggs in the bator due to hatch in a few days. This is my first time hatching turkeys. I have a few Q's.

Is it okay to put baby turkeys(BR) with Chick(BJG)? (Chicks are a week old on Friday.) If not why?
Is 24 % feed okay?

Any help.

IF my eggs hatch, Im going to raise them with my chicks, too. They are only 4 days old so I hope they will be OK together. Congrats on your babies

If you were able to get it, would % protein would you use, Steve?

I have been trying to get 28% medicated. But I have not found anyone around here that carries it. So that is why I said 24%. And the highest Medicated I can find is 18% which I have read is way too low.

I just put some 2 week old welsummers in with just hatched poults so they could show them the ropes. I always do this for several days anyway. Lots of people will tell you not to because chicken poop carries diseases that are harmful to poults. I personally have never had a problem with mixing them. Also as Steve said, 28% is best on feed.

we use 24% and have excellent results. our birds feathered out beautifully, are full of vigor and energy.

Yeah, have you seen MJ's turkeys?? They like to sit on the roof of her house and watch her. Kind of like a scene out of the movie "Birds" except these are BIG birds LOL!!
