in the end, when caring for any livestock, BB24, it comes down to do the best you can with the circumstances. Steve and Kristen are correct, the higher protein the better, but you'll have to go with what you can find in your area.

I have had to use 24% a bunch of times when I couldn't get 28% and couldn't tell the differnce between it and the 28% really. You do what you can and hope for the best. I'm sure they will be fine. Just make sure to dip their beaks into the waterer several times the first few days to get them going. They are NOT the brightest birds on the farm LOL.

I'm new in the group....hi to all.

many years ago I raised turkeys. we used to put marbles or shiny things in the feed to get them started eating. they spent a lot of time pecking at the light otherwise.

I found some feed for the turkeys today. It is 30% medicated Starter but I have to wait til Friday. It is up in the city(KC) hour and half drive. $14 per 50lbs. Thanks everyone again Tim

Thanks Tim! Yes, I am learning a lot already. At the same time I cannot believe I'm addicted to a CHICKEN forum...

I have never been interested in any forum ever -- even in my own business.
I raise alpacas by the way ... and have never been on the board....
