turkins chickens

oh they are so cute when there adult to mom has been talking to a woman that own this breed and will probably get from her, were so exited :love

oh my mom has been looking for this breed now here in Iceland and turns out that there not many people that own this breed here in iceland, one man that owned this breed lost all his because the fox got in the coop and one other man owns few hens but no rooster.

so she's going to try looking for them for little bit longer but this was werry sad for her to find out she may not get them, because both me and her think they are beautiful birds and I heard good thinks about them.

but this is just how it is when you live on an island, thinks come and go, just like I'm trying to save my lohmann hens generation, I never found a rooster until last year and now I'm putting fertille eggs from them in the incubator because my hens are so old, and I want to keep owning this breed.

but I hope to god that my mom can find someone with this breed here in Iceland tho, where going to keep looking for them :)

Here in the states we have a naked neck breed and they're bred to the standard and shown.
But the naked neck birds carry a gene for their naked necks. They can be bred to any chicken and pass on the gene so here we have other breeds that now come with naked necks.
Naked necks can carry one or two genes for it. If they have a patch of feathers sometimes referred to as "bowtie" they carry one copy of the gene. If they're completely naked necked they carry two copies.
A single gene naked neck will produce about 50% naked neck chicks when bred to any other chicken.
One that carries two genes for it will produce 100% naked neck chicks.
All those chicks will only carry one gene for it but then you can cross them and get about 25% chicks that carry two copies and those can be bred together for 100% true breeding naked necks.
Point is if you just like the naked neck look all you need to find is one and you can make more.
