Bit of an odd question, but this stems from what my goat is going through.

So long story short, starting a few months ago, Jordi started peeing red. I called the vet who came down to look at her and do an ultrasound (which she wasn't still for at all; you need an army to hold this goat, and she's only a pygmy). Turns out she has a mass in her bladder. She's gone through a few different medications with Meloxicam being the only one that works. And for some reason, the mass, whatever it is, cannot be removed. I get some organs are harder to work with than others, but I still refuse to believe whatever this is can't be removed.

I'm starting to wonder though. I picked up Turmeric for my cat (who sadly passed away last month) as it's good for inflammation and other things. Meloxicam is basically an anti-inflammatory, but it's becoming a pain to constantly call in for a refill every two weeks.

Has anyone tried giving their goats turmeric? I'd like to try and give it to Juju and see if that'll work better than medicine.

Please let me know! Thank you!

Personally, I don't think it will help, but on the other hand it certainly can't hurt. In other words, the worst that can happen is nothing. Who knows? I might be wrong. I can buy turmeric bulk at the local natural food store. You might be able to do the same.

I know this is an old post but my goat is going thru the same thing and I am looking for suggestions please. TIA
Not sure if this is still relevant, but I had a dog with bladder cancer. She did have surgery and lived for another 3 years after surgery (the average survival rate for dogs with this even with surgery is 6 months). I tried high dose Vitamin C (like 1-2g every 12 hours), and piroxicam. Also gave her graviola (an herb), and Apocaps CX Apoptogen. And yes, turmeric. I bought a 2-lb container at the Indian grocer and put heaping tablespoonfulls on wet food for the dog. You can also try the local Chinese herbalist. She actually got a growth again (!) this time on her paw, which was removed by laser and did not recur. She lived until about 14 when I finally put her down at the advice of the SPCA . @NubbyRyuu sometimes cancers of the bladder cannot be removed because of their location; they are easy to remove if they are on a smooth wall, but not if there are near on of the ureters or urethra.
