Crowing
Ok, remember that song from, the 80’s? That had lyrics that said...turn..up..the..radio!!! Well! It’s sooo true!! We have farming in my husband’s family, many generations. And a few months ago they came out to see the farm. This was right after we got the goats and pot belly pigs...and chickens. We were talking about predators because we had a coyote walk right down our pine tree line, which divide our fields, and it was about 20-30 ft from our ducks...and did nothing. My husband saw the whole thing from the other part of the yard. Anyway, we had crafted a funny sign on the ducks pen that says “no coyote “ On the door. So it started the discussion on predictors. My in-laws have used the radio for years...effectively, as a deterrent for predators. I am in no way saying this will prevent attacks, etc. completely. What I am saying is that, these animals hear the noise in my barn/coop, etc and think it’s people. They are staying away. Four four months I’ve had various styles of music...we want to see which coyotes hate most..rapp, classical, country, pop...
But, I thought I would pass this on to to you all, to see if any of you might want to give it a try. It’s simple and it’s worked for us, plus I’ve even got to witness the real live chicken dance!!
