Turned my chickens to meat today :(

If you must name your birds some suggestions to make it easier on culling days is fried. fricassee, roasted, baked, bbqd. you get my point
We had a steer that my boys named Butch ("Because we're gonna butcher him anyway, Mom." They were 10, 8 and 5 at the time.) My step-dad named one of his steers Sir Loin. They also had one named Chuck (Roast).

It popped up on the list at the bottom - it doesn't say which forum it is on unless you actually check to see before posting.
And the sad face probably called out to us.

i tell my kids that our egg layers are our pets but the meat birds are for food. we do not name our meat birds and we have found that the cobb 500 CX strikes a nice balance between fast growing and playful, energetic and healthy birds. it probably makes it easier that they grow fast and are in the freezer in 9 weeks, so less time to get attached.

I'm not rambling. Just pointing out how someone might not know they were in the meat bird forums...

Ditto Dat^^^
Just slaughtered and butchered the older hens this last week,
sure was glad to get that done.....
....and had a delicious chicken and broccoli sammich today.

Seriously y'all?!?!? This is the meat bird forum.

HUH????

Folks it looks like we have a random rambling in the meat bird section!!!!!!! lol...

Going to the original post and reading it I am sure they knew where they were at. they were sympathetic with the poster they quoted was sad that they had to butcher some chickens, and the following poster was sad over processing theirs. it seems that you did not read the post and the one they quoted....

Actually I did read them. And figured out quickly what had happened. Quoting posts still doesn't say what forum we're in. They gave sympathy because the person felt bad, what difference does it make which forum it is? I only chimed in to point out that to some it's not that obvious.

What? Because it's in the meat bird forum - y'all are supposed to be cold hearted? Nah, it's something that needs to be done when you raise them for it and some feel bad cause they got attached and others will give sympathy for it.

Can we get back to the OP now?
