Turning eggs?

I put them on a tilt with one end up on a sideways empty carton. Then I just reverse the tilt direction no less than 3 times a day. I have mine in a Styrofoam cooler near my bed with a small ice pack and thermometer. I have been known to get up to use the bathroom late night early morn and give a tilt turn.
We save for only 8 days max.
This is just a regular egg carton, not the one that has my fertile eggs in it. But would tilting it like this be fine? And then just keep switching sides?

Mine sit on the kitchen counter until I decide to pop them in the incubator. Or the ones on the spare bed, or ones in the sewing/incubator room too. They never get turned or "controlled". Only dated, and I'll incubate anything less than 2-3 weeks old.

**Just adding my 2 cents that its not as critical as some like to make it out to be. (("some" as a general term, not aimed at anyone in particular))

x2

I agree. When I said "a few times", I really meant whenever I happen to think about it which could be 0 - 5 or so times a day. A broody is not turning eggs until she is ready to sit on them, and they sit out in the nest box and hatch just fine. I do not keep mine cool, just whatever temp the room happens to be, and I am a cheapo so my house might be a bit warmer than some people's (set at 77 during the day and 72 at night).

Last year I was hatching about every 10 days so eggs were usually up to 10 days old, though I did hatch a batch from a guinea nest I found that included 46 eggs from one hen and 22 of them hatched proving that even eggs sitting out in the elements for a few weeks can hatch :)

Oh yeah, I definitely know what you mean. I think being that I'm only able to collect 4 eggs, I wanna make sure I don't take any risks ya know?

That makes sense, and i almost mentioned if i had a beloved hen that died and i was trying to save her eggs, or something of that nature, i may be a little more particular. So being smart with them is always a good idea. Just be careful with too much handling that you don't have an accident with them. <knock on wood> :D

Oh yeah! I have the first egg in a carton, on a towel, under a laundry basket, guarded by gates lol so hopefully it's safe!
