I have some fertile turkey eggs, (picked up in person locally, thanks Shawn!) I'm about to entrust to a pair of broody hens. I'm going to separate them from the rest of the flock, so the eggs will be less likely to get broken. If I had an empty 'bator right now, I'd put them in it, but I need the bator for shipped eggs. (with possible damage from shipping, putting those under a hen isn't a good idea, they need minimal movement, very gentle turning)
A good broody is a real prize, but even the best do some pretty weird things. A chicken is a bird of very strong instinct, and very little brain.
I heard of one broody trying to hatch a plastic dinosaur and a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle action figure.
