Somehow, in our myriad of tangled cords, one of our turners get unplugged. We think that it might have been unplugged for as long as two or three days. Will this be exceptionally harmful to the chicks? Is there anything we can do to remedy this? All help, opinions, and suggestions welcome.

You may still be ok. How far along in the process were they? As for me I would go ahead and go for it..

Well we originally feared the worst, thinking that when the welsummers hatched 3 days ago and I took down the 9200 I had unplugged the wrong cord. But now I am wondering.... The temps in that bator dropped this morning down to 99.0 and I KNOW they had been okay even early this morning. As soon as we plugged the turner back in, the temp went right back up to 99.7. So I am thinking it somehow got unplugged today. So at most they only missed one or two turns. I am breathing again.... Phew,... that was close one!

I just downloaded an interesting article about not turning eggs at all. It was run in Countryside & Small Stock Journal July 1, 1996 and written by D.L. Salsbury. I do think I'm going to give it a try.Maybe not with the eggs I have coming tomorrow morning, but next batch perhaps. It is worth pursuing. Also going to try the dry incubation approach. This is research, you guys. Inquiring minds want to know. Karen
