Turning Stored Eggs - HOW!?

Ridge Runner:  Here's a second article.... Just when we figure that we've learned the correct way to do something, someone comes along and challenges accepted theory.  http://www.lohmann-information.com/content/l_i_46_artikel7.pdf  so, the next time I hatch, if it's a barnyard mix, and I'm not terribly invested in the outcome, perhaps i'll put the theory to the test with half of them stored pointy end up before incubation.  I'd love to hear from readers:  Is anyone storing their hatching eggs pointy end up?????

This pointy-end-up-thing has really got my attention!!! I'm DEF gonna try it sometime! I'll let you know what the results are if whoever of you all does it too! I want to get at least 8+ eggs first and right now I only have 2. (I am using my Silkies's eggs btw)

May not need to turn eggs during storage for up to 14 days; I wished they'd show data for 7 day-old eggs turned and not turned. I am not sure, but this is what I got from Aviagen (they are experts?). Original reference at bottom left of slide (Proudfoot 1966 - perhaps someone can dig up this original study and 7 days data may be in there). I am confused now as you probably are. Things I am trying to think about in nature:

- Hens don't have all their eggs large end up in nature, as some pointed out.
- They may not turn all their eggs once a day during laying when they sit once a day to lay an egg.
- Some hens skip one day before laying another egg; do they visit their nest each day to turn eggs? They most likely won't sit on it before finish laying their clutch or the eggs will be incubated prematurely.

All the best!
