I was hit with inspiration a few weeks ago. I had a pretty little batch of barred rocks. The rooster was nice, the hens were nice and everyone was happy. I had a perfect specimen of a New Hampshire Red rooster running in another pen, whome I always intended to get some white rock hens for. However, this boy needed some ladies, so we threw him in with the barred rocks, thinking we'd getnice black sex links until we found him some white rock hens. Now this mixed bag of chicks are coming out of the incubator. I clearly did not think this through. It turns out that black sex link chicks and barred rock chicks are similar enough that I can't tell them apart. Has anyone else found a way to tell them apart? I can post pictures later!

Thanks!

Barred Rocks: Chicks will have white spots on their heads.

Black Sex-links: Males will looks like normal Barred Rocks (with the dot on their head), females will be completely black.
